Down the Alley by mrcool256 Down the Alley by mrcool256
I liked the way the palm trees lined this alley, I thought it was pretty pleasing to the eyes... if it's possible to make an alley/drainage ditch beautiful in any way. Hope you like, and hope everyone had a most excellent weekend. :D

As always any input you wish to share with me is appreciated more than you probably realize... thanks so much for looking.

:ninja:

Edit: (2-28) Changed crop and removed crappy border.

as the eye rolls down the concrete gutter perspective
and up thru to lucy in the sky..psychedelic flashbacks cotton candy and the laws of gravity are flaunted in an outrageously entertaining manner.

I have a question. How do you get the colors like this?

:iconfriendlybynature:

Great color effects. I almost typed that they are very "natural-looking", but then realized just how absurd that would be. I think what I like most is that the lack of color isn't making this look particularly surreal, but rather just like a different kind of reality. I got the impression that white-leaved palm trees are normal where you're from, not that anything unusual was done to make them look that way. (This shot looks less processed than many of your other, equally excellent works.)

Wow! The palm trees appear as if you applied Clorax or something like that to bleach them! I have to laugh because I, too, live in Arizona! In fact, not too far from you, since I live in Mesa. So, I know palm trees all too well!

I discovered your site through Rheasblaze's site. You've got a very interesting site, as well as gallery!

Great job on this photo! One that is truly original and quite creative! :)

I just bought a Hoya R72 filter. I'm wondering, do you set the white balance before putting the filter on? or after? It sees like it would be too dark to register once it's on, but then again I haven't tried it yet. (Not much foliage here yet). Just curious.

I thought the same thing at first; but actually I did set the custom white balance with the filter on the lens. (Doing the whole custom WB thing; measuring WB against a sunny patch of grass). It worked so well for me that I've had the same custom WB stored in my D70 for like 2 years now... haven't had to change it yet. Give it a shot and let me know how it works out for you. :D

Thanks for the help man. It'll be a while before we have grass hear, or significant leaves. I might try it on some evergreens in the mean time. Thanks again for the quick reply.
