Artist's Comments
Going through some older shots today, found this... some of you may remember this location, as I have another shot from the same day of this place. Whenever I go to a place like this I like to look at the individual graves rather than the place as a whole, it's always intriguing to think of what was. Here lies 'Fred Nish'. So here's to you Fred, whoever you were...
P.S.- Really sorry I've been a bit busy the last few weeks, and am dreadfully behind on my messages... I'll catch up eventually, but for now I apologize if I've seemed a little non-existent on here. Commentsgreat atmosphere, looks almost IR-like

Critiques
To me, crosses do not automatically imply Christianity. They are much more than that as crosses were used by pagans to crucify criminals prior to Christianity becoming a religion. Crosses, to me, imply the cycle of life, death, and rebirth.
This cross is surrounded by things apparently left by family/friends. This person is loved. It sits within dark earth... we all return to the earth, and thus the cycle continues.
Though crosses are photographed all the time, this is more unique since you used the wide angle to bring your own individual perspective and vision to the subject matter.
Nicely done!
I really love this artist, 'cause it's a really Nikon master.
This work have a real unique style (as all the mrcool256's deviantions) thant can impressed the viewer with a fine vision, the stunning colors and the simple but indispensable details.
The photo shows three predominant colors: the white, the brown and the blue.
The white: Relax the eyes and takes the attention upon the message, "Fred Nish".
The brown: The raw and tough earth, the support of the subject.
The blue: Vision of infinity, this color free the brain of who see it.
The tecnique, with this extreme wide angle, give a touch of unreal and dreamlike. The aperture, joined the high contrast, impress the photo in a strongly way.
The negative side is the right side of the cross placed in front of the cloud, it miss a bit of contrast and shooting point can just a little more down. But these are not important details.
Conclusive estimation: A great photos, in the middle of the western style, with really gorgeous colors, a great style and wonderful relax sensation.
Unfortunately I have no idea who he was Fred Nish.
Great deviation!
