3 biggest Pet Peeves?

Journal Entry: Sun Jan 20, 2008, 9:03 PM
  • Mood: Content
  • Watching: The Staircase
  • Playing: Halo 3
  • Eating: Pizza Time!
  • Drinking: Rasberry Lemonade
In the tradition of many of my previous journals... I'd like to open the doors to discussion on yet another topic I find interesting and fun to talk about. Pet Peeves. Be honest; I'm impossible to offend... so let em fly. It's all in good fun.

Here are my biggest three...

1. Frats and the people who join them.

:bulletred:I must make an immediate disclaimer here. I don't hate every frat guy/girl; I'm alluding to a specific type of person here that incidentally seems to be present in almost every frat guy/girl I've ever come across. I have good friends who joined frats in college... but that doesn't hide the fact that I find 90% of the people who join them complete morons. Also another note... I'm excluding academic frats... which actually have a worthwhile purpose. I went to ASU which is known for being one of the biggest party schools in America. Not a day passed while I attended the school that I didn't come across a loud mouthed shallow and ignorant frat guy/girl. They go to college with Mommy and Daddy's money... then they party their asses off, and a lot of times; end up dropping out. What really aggravated me about these people was that I had to work while in college; and I worked a lot. My family and myself didn't have a lot of money... so it was painful to see these airhead girls walking around without a care in the world because their parents refuse to take the silver spoon out of there mouth. Usually worsening this visual is the guy that would be inevitably tagging along... I'm sure you've seen him before; the metrosexual wannabe who spends his free time in the tanning salon so that he can appear attractive to his opposite sex equivalent. It just sickens me. The main reason behind my hatred for this social group is the overall shallowness. The focus on partying and having sex with anything that moves is completely contrary to how I think life should be lived. It always makes me smile to see these people have to graduate and actually work for a living. Wake up call time! Ha ha.

2. Current trends in popular music (and the people who support it).

:bulletred: I don't think I really even have to explain myself on this one. Just look at last years top 100 songs on Itunes. There might be five or six that has any artistic vision or musicality. Worst of all it is overflowing with the crap that we know as rap. Rap used to be good, and there are still a lot of great creative underground rappers... but as long as Soulja Boy is topping the charts; I will forever abandon the genre. Hearing songs like "Crank That" make me want to pour boiling water in my ears; so that I'll never have to hear such contrived and hollow crap again. Just look at these lyrics... I picked a portion... if I posted the whole songs lyrics you're brain might just explode; so I used discretion:

"Soulja Boy Off In This Hoe
Watch me Lean And Watch Me Rock?
Super Man Dat Hoe
Then Watch me Crank Dat Robocop?
Super Fresh, Now Watch Me Jock
Jocking On Them Haterz Man
When I Do Dat Soulja Boy
I Lean To The Left And Crank Dat Dance
(Now You)
I'm Jocking On Yo Bitch Ass
And If We Get The Fightin
Then I'm Cocking On Your Bitch
You Catch Me At Yo Local Party
Yes I Crank It Everyday
Haterz Get Mad Cause
"I Got Me some Bathing Apes"

Seriously... what the fuck. This shit doesn't even rhyme... and when it does; its because he uses the same damn word! If this guy has an IQ anywhere above the the 40 range I'd be amazed. Yet this song spent seven weeks at NUMBER ONE on the Billboard Hot 100 last year. If you like songs like that... save yourself some time and don't even mention it to me... I might just have a miniature tirade.

3. Judgmental people

:bulletred: Now that I've just spent my first two basically judging people... I will now be a bit of a hypocrite. I hate people who judge others. Actually let me a bit more specific... it's nearly impossible not to judge people at least on a sub conscious level. I hate people who make it known that they are judging you. This list would include:

*Rich people looking down on the less fortunate. (My old examples of people with nice photo equipment looking down on those without as good of stuff comes to mind)
*People at the gym being rude or judgmental to those who aren't in as good of shape as them. (There there trying; how on earth can you fault them for that)
*The entire meat market mentality that exists in about 80 percent of bars/clubs. This whole culture is based on judging everyone around you. Guys judging other guys to size them up as competition, and members of the opposite sex prowling for partners based solely on physical appearance. Here's a rule of thumb: If you're trying to meet a quality individual to start a relationship with in the bar/club scene; you're an idiot. Its basically the equivalent of trying to get a fresh meal by sticking your hand down the garbage disposal.

I could go on for days but you get the point. Judging has a time and a place... it can be amusing if kept in your own head. But the moment you let it affect your actions or way you treat others; you've got a problem, and you need to check yourself.

-There you have it. Sometimes I write just to write. This is one of those times. Take it with a grain of salt please. No offense intended at all to anyone. I'd love to hear any pet peeves you all have. I find them interesting... you can find out a lot about people by getting to know what gets under their skin.

Hope everyone had a good weekend too!

Hahahaha... I love that! Those are great. I agree 100 percent with all of them. The first big time... I have to fave without commenting a lot of the time because I have a crap load of watchers... so it's annoying when people don't understand that. Also... so true with your third one; there are quite a bit of things that go on here that I'd love to just ship right over to Myspace; there's no room for stuff like that here.

I agree with you here. :)

Especially about the gym comment. It just comes to mind, these fully dressed up gym ..muscles flexing, etc..I heard them making comments about this obsese lady who was on the treadmill. I was like "rawwr" I didn't say anything because I was......drenched in sweat at the time but..yeah that just came to mind after I read this.

Also - I've noticed in the charts a lot of the popular music has a lot of grammatical errors..like that's cool or something?

I have many pet peeves... well things that annoy me write now, but I would rather not say right now.. Too many to list..

So true... that's just so rude when people give overweight people at the gym a hard time. They should be applauded for taking the initiative and going. Also... no prob... I have way too many too; so I can understand you having too many to list. Hahaha. :lmao:

Dude. I love u. Well put.

Frat guys...u mean like American Pie? (Never watched it, i cant stand it!)

Music. I absolutely hate it. I was born and raised in the projects of Los Angeles (in San Pedro), i cant stand that crap and especially the new crap. (At least old rap had sense.) Im a rock guy. Theyre lyrics have meaning and a purpose! (Or underground rap/hip hop- which follows rock exapmples in this part).

Judgemental people. Dont get me started.
On the rich people note, i ring to mind my hometown, San Pedro. "looking down upon" literally. A 900ft hill that had the poor people at the bottom (in San Pedro) and the rich at the top (Palos Verdes). I lived as far south as possible, but its more likely that you would confuse me with someone from the top of the hill in terms of education and life (not the snobby B mentality most of their kids carry).

I know. They should by law go up to them and give them a high five. Because I think that's why alot of people stop going to the gym, because they're afraid of what other people think. And constant put downs don't help. I just hope that lady didn't hear what they were saying. :) Anyway have a good day..don't get too peeved! :lmao:
